New Dundee.com
I was just about to jump on my flight out of the country for a well earned summer break when I noticed on Twitter that Dundee.com has had a facelift to tie it into the new city identity. Discuss.

For me its a little template like. I think a lot more cold have been done on that top grey part in terms of excitement and movement. Maybe the boxes could rotate like apple file viewer. It just lacks any sort of spark for me and thats a problem being that the whole concept is about igniting/illuminating Dundee. It also lacks any real personality and looks very corporate in approach with the lack of colour and all the grey. Thats my opinion anyway.

Had a discussion in the Overgate today with the council about the thought process and marketing behind the website and logo - a lot of emphasis was placed on the spark logo, Dundee being a place of energy, sunny, bright and the concept of illuminating the city - i can't help but agree that the harsh black is a bit of a cop out but it does look pretty straight-forward and will not offend. The two "D"s being different in the logo does niggle me a bit though!

I agree with everything above, the website certainly lacks colour and overall looks rather bland. Then again, who knows how many committees it went through to get to the final result so it could be a lot worse.
I guess they want to move on from the past and old preconceptions so that's why there's no historical references but the Dundonian in me finds that a bit of a shame.
No more Comic Sans-esque font though!!

Indeed, at least it is trying to be grown up. That old typeface was just too far in the wrong direction.
I think if I was to sum up the re-brand so far it would be grown up but still self conscious, incidentally I noticed the new signs at the city entrances have gone up while I was away... I never got a proper look as it was 2am and I was sleepy from delayed flights.

Sign looks sharp, clean and effective. I am sure some of the creative minds in here can come up with other concepts of design but comments of utilisation of the design would be a far more positive step.
There is another very clear sign of Dundee I saw on the web, it is a beer brewed in NY nice graphics also, Dundee on a wheatsheaf.
Crisp clear and refreshing.
Then again there is the morning after.
